431 BCE Sparta Attacks Athens

The first of the civil battles was in 431 BCE. It was between Sparta and Athens. The Spartas could not attack the city due to the wall but the country side of Athens took the largest blow. On top of the battle, a plague was started wiping out about 25% of the population including Pericles. This lead to the weakning of Athens
